Journying Towards Mental Fitness

Do you want to be mentally healthy? Do you want a loved one to become mentally healthy? Better yet, why not mentally fit? Being physically or mentally healthy simply means having an absence of health problems. But with the direction that research is leading us, why not strive for fitness or the ability to perform a variety of strenuous situations? Life, after all, is full of challenges, and challenges are mere opportunities for growth. Thus, the more mentally fit one becomes the more you will be able to grow in every positive and significant area of your life.
How does one move towards mental fitness? By gaining mental health momentum and consistently pushing further along the continuum from health towards fitness. More specifically, it is a combination of conditioning multiple systems; just as an athlete conditions muscles, ligaments, bones, lungs, and heart.  To become mentally fit one must develop habits for resilience, emotional regulation, empathy, impulse control, self-differentiation, self-control, awareness, problem solving, self-expression, acceptance, sense of autonomy, self-efficacy, self-worth, self-care, assumption testing, reframing, neurological flexibility and speed, and chemical balance. All of which are impacted by sleep, nutrition, movement, meditation/prayer, thought habits, and relational habits. What specific habits do you practice for your mental fitness?
